Gratitude FHE

We had a fun and successful Family Home Evening tonight.  Success these days is defined by Hudson's attention span. :)  We talked about gratitude and why it's important to be grateful and watched this Mormon messages clip.  I loved where it said "because we see things so often, we see them less and less." We discussed being grateful for those things in our daily life that we often take for granted.

As our activity we wrote down those things in our life that we are thankful for.  We were amazed at the things Hudson came up with.  We started him off with helping him out with "hallie, mom, dad..." then he started throwing random things out all on his own like Thomas the train, birds, trees, stories and kisses.  It was fun too see his little mind working.  He then stuck almost every single leaf to the tree.  And when we were done, he wanted to write down more things and stick them to the tree.  Thankfully we have some yummy banana caramel cupcakes to pull him from the tree.

We did the tree on our kitchen wall, so hopefully it will serve as a reminder this month to be more grateful.

Make sure to watch the video of Hudson hanging the leaves.  We think it's pretty cute.  He also learned a new word (specific name) tonight as we were writing things down.

we normally just refer to grandparents as "Grandma" or "Grandpa" but since we wanted all grandparents accounted for on the tree we talked about "Grandpa Jergensen" etc and clearly he picked up on it. :)
